Resettlement & Mitigations
RMR can plan and execute resettlement and mitigation and compensation work following social action plans, environmental mitigation plans, resettlement action plans and emergency relief plans.
Programmes already executed include:
- Resettlement of people from Ikizu and Ikoma Districts for the revision of the boundaries of the Serengeti National Park (Tanzania);
- Resettlement of farmers for the Rahad Irrigation Scheme (Sudan);
- Emergency Feeding Programme, Mogadishu 1991 (Somalia);
- Resettlement of Ban Nam Leuk for the Nam Leuk Hydropower Project (Lao PDR);
- Resettlement of Ban Phou Khao Keo and Ban Phou Khao Khouay (advisory role only) (Lao PDR).
Resettlement Studies and Plans include:
- Relocation of Refugee Camps at Beled Weyne and the middle Shabeelle region (Somalia);
- Preliminary relocation of river bank farmers for the Stiegler’s Gorge Hydropower Project (Tanzania);
- Resettlement Master Plan for the displaced farmers for the Juba Valley Hydropower Project (Somalia),
- Resettlement proposals for families affected by the Xe Kaman 1 reservoir (Lao PDR);
- Studies and plans for the resettlement of Ban Nam Leuk (Lao PDR);
- Studies and Plans for the resettlement of Ban Phou Khao Keo and Ban Phou Khao Khouay (Lao PDR);
- Resettlement Action Plan for families to be displaced by the Theun Hinboun Expansion Project (Lao PDR);
- Resettlement and mitigation plans for families affected by the Theun Hinboun THHP diversion and any expanded diversion (Lao PDR).
